Changes to NRC Regulations and Guidance for Material Control and Accounting

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will publish the draft version of Title 10 Code of Federal Regulations Part 74 “Material Control and Accounting of Special Nuclear Material” (Part 74) later this year. NRC will also publish revisions to NUREG series publications and regulatory guides on material control and accounting (MC&A). This paper will discuss the changes to NRC MC&A regulations and guidance, the current status of the rulemaking and guidance revisions, and what steps will occur prior to issuance of the final rule and guidance.
