Challenges of Performance Testing in Nuclear and Radiological Sites

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) National Security Administration (NNSA) Office of Weapons Material Protection, the Office of Material Consolidation and Civilian Sites and the Office of National Infrastructure and Sustainability requested personnel from the Y-12 National Security Complex and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory to conduct performance testing activities in technical exchange workshops. These activities include: function, operability, effectiveness, and acceptance testing on Physical Protection and Nuclear Materials Control & Accounting systems. This has been very successful and there are plans in the works to continue this professional relationship with our Russian colleagues.
