Abstract
PAPER NOT AVAILABLE. ABSTRACT: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has implemented a new integrated security system (Argus) composed of an automated access control sub-system, a user interactive alarm sub-system and a high resolution graphic based console which integraoes the above as well as a DES encrypted radio controller, a phone controller and a video switching sub-system. The LLNL security system serves both the 800 acre Livermore site and another site 15 miles distant from Livermore. Both sites are linked using high speed data lines. The system is currently configured to provide access control for up to 18,000 employees, contractors and equipment using over 100 man-traps, single door portals, and Sally ports. Alarm protection is provided for up to 1000 rooms or perimeter areas (over 6000 sensors), and switching is provided for up to 450 separate video feeds. LLNL currently supports two encrypted, auto ID radio channels, and eleven other radio channels along with 35 phone lines in a computer based radio/phone control unit. The security system has been operating at LLNL since October 1988 and is being exported to the DOD at Falcon AFB for the SDIO National Tesdjed Facility and to Sandia Corp. in Albuquerque for their site access control system.
